Authenticity and Superheroes
One month later...and I realize I suck at newsletters
Write Down for What?
I'm here to share my thoughts and ideas...
They are centered around 3 things:
1. analogies
2. storytelling
3. mixed mediaThe themes that I write around:
1. self-mastery
2. content creation
3. authenticity and core valuesWhat am I doing?
I want to write better for you.

It’s not easy to do this.
One month after launching this newsletter, I’ve realized something VERY important…
It kinda sucked.
Why?
Because I didn’t quite feel like me when I was writing it.
At this point, I’ve told you several things about myself:
I am the Mind Miner; an aspiring knowledge theorist.
I write about content creation, authenticity, and self-mastery.
I love using analogies, storytelling, and mixed-media formats to convey my ideas.
The sick irony of it all was…it felt like I was lying to you to some extent.
I wasn’t willing to drop the other shoe yet.
Today, I decided to do just that.
This entry explains why.
Let’s jump in!
Why Does Authenticity Matter?
Don’t get me wrong! Every single thing you’ve read so far (if you read any of them of course) is sincere and from my heart and soul…
It was just filtered through the partial sieve of what remained of my shield in my previous or alternate life as an engineer.
The tone for the first month felt more like something I would write at work.
My voice was auto-tuned to that mindset.
As much as I love my job and the freedom it provides me to play in the technical sandbox, I’m not here to extend that world into this one.
This is supposed to be MY newsletter to the world, not a weekly technical and analytical rundown of what my mind looks like as if it were a positronic brain schematic!
This. Is. Me.
I’ve shared my construct and how my mind is structured as well as what it contains.
Now, I’m going to share how it works and what parts of it will help you.
Who am I?
I’m a 9-5 parent with a technical career that I’ve shared via LinkedIn and an artistic career that I’ve shared via Facebook.
They ran parallel for my entire life…kinda like these three:
Bruce Wayne | Batman
Clark Kent | Superman
Peter Parker | Spiderman
What do these three superheroes have in common?
Their secret identities make the living while their crimefighting personas make them feel alive and maximize their contributions to society.
Their authenticity is dichotomized into two separate worlds depending on their situations.
What do I want?
I want to be more like Tony Stark.
Throughout his journey over the course of the the MCU trilogy, he was always the same person in or out of his Iron Man suit.
He never had to separate his identity as Iron Man in the MCU.
Yes, he did pay for that in the third movie, but stick with me here!
What I’m trying to say is that I’d rather maintain my authenticity across the entire spectrum like him rather than having to split it for my roles like the others…
I’d rather talk about myself through these experiences as a real person.
So I’m going to write like I’m speaking to you AS A REAL PERSON.
You didn’t come here to read AI-generated content…there are plenty of those coming up out there right now.
It’s the newest gold rush since crypto froze over and NFT’s lost their momentum.
…as a technical person, I believe they are the future but have a long way to go in use cases that are totally missing the point…
We can talk about that later from the knowledge theorist perspective.
Do you see what I mean?
I’ve got opinions and thoughts.
You can like them or hate them…but you chose to subscribe to join this dig!
You signed up to see if I had anything valuable to say to you to help you on your journey.
My offer is me…my authentic self dialed up a notch or two to get the message across that no matter how busy you are as a parent, a contributor, or a creator, you can grow and even thrive in the challenges that you face!
BTW if you know me IRL, you know this is how I am; that I am passionate about creation and expression; that I can talk about anything from experience.
Now that this rant is out of the way…I want to share three things I’ll be improving in this newsletter from here on out.
Formatting - this is going to change and evolve until I am happy with the way it’s structured to deliver maximum value to you. I’m here to write to YOU to help you unlock your abilities.
Tone - as I stated before, this is going to be my voice and how I talk…still striving for higher quality but it’s going to be natural and unfiltered.
Focus - the first month gave you an intro to me and my background. Each one now will be on ONE thing at a time!
If you’ve stuck with me up to this point, thanks so much!
This is way harder than a YouTube channel in some ways, but far easier than that in others.
And don’t worry, I’ll still be throwing in references…
The Takeaway
Do you ever feel like you're holding back?
I do.
And I ask myself "why the f*ck do I do that?"
I'm afraid of judgment.
I'm afraid of rejection.
I'm afraid of ridicule.
I'm afraid of change.
I'm afraid of truth.Irony:
I'm afraid of authenticity...
That's got to change.

Here’s this week’s actionable exercise for you:
Think about
Your favorite superhero
Why do you relate or resonate with this superhero?
List out all the characteristics you have in common
Write about whether or not you feel like you need an alter ego
Draw comparison and contrasts as well as how you may become more like them over time
Got it?
Sound like fun?
Then you’re in the right place because I won’t just talk about superheroes…
I’ll be talking about lots of franchises and stories in context with everything else I’ve written about so far.
This is the second exercise in self-mastery.
Once again, you’ve reached the end of this edition!
Nothing juicy to offer this week along with this edition…
HOWEVER
That will also be changing as I move forward!
Thought of the week:
A Knowledge Theorist strives to be relatable and authentic in the pursuit…
Aw nuts, it’s that time again!
I always forget to set the alarm, but it’s back to the mines for me!
Now that I’ve blown up my plans and am recalibrating this entire routine…
Next week…I want to talk about digging in the mines for the long-term.
I’ve seen too many newsletters lose momentum.
Sustainable mining requires a system.
Vince
P.S. Feels like I’m riding a drunk elephant with this newsletter.
P.P.S. Do let me know what you thought of this one!
