One Above Others - Writing is the Master of Successful Media

Soul expression distilled and distributed

Writing is the most essential artform for mass distribution of ideas…

It took me YEARS to realize just how important this skill truly was…

and I had been ignoring it to the detriment of my progress in becoming a content creator!

It took 35 years for me to reach that realization.

Why do you care you may ask?

  • Writing is a skill worth improving and exploring…

Whether it be for your own edification or your aspirations to clarify:

  • Your identity

  • Your place in the world

  • Augmenting your skills in you career

  • Building your own content empire and newsletter…

I fully understand now that writing accomplishes all these things.

I’m building the foundation of all four of these areas myself!

But first: why listen to me?

Because I have experienced all 5 areas of the arts throughout my life!

My Artistic Resume in One Tweet

The underlying theme to my success in each area was always based in writing…

Yet I never understood its power or how it shaped me over the years.

If I were to go back and do it all over again, I’d focus more on maintaining the growth of my writing skills!

There are so many things that would be different and better in my life:

  • my mental health

  • my ability to think critically

  • my clarity of thought and communication

  • my willingness to speak up in a group conversation

The list goes on and on…

Suffice it say I’d be a much better version of myself!

So here’s my thesis for this edition:

Writing is the Foundation of the Everything

Writing is the rawest form of communication across space and time.

Without it, there is no way to learn of the past or to save the future.

But let’s not get too far into the philosophical realm of writing (I can do that another time)…

You’re here for the good stuff!

You’re here to see if I’ve got the balls to show you how I do it…

Fantastic Tweets…and How to Write Them

Ok, so here’s my framework for idea processing:

  1. Capture them

  2. Organize them

  3. Write the draft

  4. Rest 24 hours

  5. Edit/Research/Edit some more

  6. Dress it up with “je ne sais quoi”

  7. Publish/Queue it

  8. Follow up and engagement

  9. Reflect and refine.

  10. Expand the winners to other social media platforms

  11. Repurpose/archive/refine

That last one is the secret to eternal content growth…

What? You thought it’s just one and done?

No way!

Your thoughts and ideas deserve better!

They came from you…right?

…right?

…ok.

Prime directive of writing:

Once discovered, do not interfere with the development of low-level ideas!

Let them take their natural course.

BUT ALSO:

Steal like an artist…not like a thief:

In future articles, I will go into much more detail in a writing exercise template that guides you through my process.

Let me know if this is something that you’d want a course of some form for me to cover!

My Livelogue is still in development…that’s where all the goodies will be kept for your edification.

Do you get what I’m trying to do yet?

I want to help you become a better writer!

I’m not a great writer by any measure, but I will be applying all my transferable skills from my artistic experience to get there!

This newsletter is the gateway to my processes and what worked for me.

Closing Nuggets

Nobody said this was going to be easy.

You’re not Athena.

You didn’t spring out of Zeus’s head fully-formed and ready to kick ass and take names and try to talk Kratos out of ruining it for humanity and going on his whole redemption arc…(not historically accurate at all, but a great franchise!)

Regardless of your age and skill level, the art known as writing is a never-ending pursuit.

It’s not something you just magically “get gud at” and morph into supreme beings like:

  • Patrick Rothfuss

  • Terry Goodkind

  • J. R. R. Tolkien

  • Frank Herbert

  • Isaac Asimov

…just to name a few literary luminaries yours truly has enjoyed in the fiction world.

Let me know some of your fiction favorites!

So many diversions in my writing…but you get my point.

Settle in for the long haul if you want to inspire, entertain and illuminate with the power of words.

That’s all for today, fellow excavators!

The Mind Miner must return to digging for more nuggets of wisdom.

Next week, I’ll cover the philosophy of the Polymath Knowledge Theorist and how it links to my ideas of being a self-mastery advocate in the face of the AI revolution.

To put it simply, I’ll start to flesh out the way that I managed to cover so much ground in so many areas over the last 35 years of my life (with focus on the last 5 as that’s the beginning of juggling family around it).

Don’t ask about the first 5 years though…

if you’re a parent, you already know what happened then!

Until then,

Vince

P.S. Kudos for those who caught the reference for this week’s musings. Let me know if you enjoy these as much as I love shimming them in for giggles!

P.P.S. I may even have a prize for those that catch the references I make!
